For the meatballs:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper (omit if you don't like spicy)
  • ¼ cup onion, diced finely
  • a few grinds of fresh pepper
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
  • chopped fresh dill, for garnish (optional)

Fixings:

  • 1 container store-bought tzatziki sauce
  • chopped cucumber
  • halved grape tomatoes
  • sliced red onion
  • chopped romaine lettuce
  • naan bread, quartered (I like Trader Joe's frozen naan)
  • hummus
  • cumbled feta cheese
  • kalamata olives

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the ground pork and beef, oregano, cumin, salt and pepper. Mix with fork (or clean hands) until combined.
  • Using a cookie dough scoop, drop scoops of meat onto a parchment lined baking sheet pan. Roll each meatball with hands into a ball. Lightly brush olive oil on top of each meatball.
  • Bake meatballs at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve meatballs with all the fixings! Enjoy!
