After traveling for a week, some of it spontaneously, I’m finally settling into our family routine. Re-entry is always a beast…catching up with emails, texts, signups, updating calendars, and of course, adjusting back into our family cleanup routine that was mostly ignored while I was away.
Over the weekend, we jumped straight into high school winter sports championship meets!
We spent Saturday all morning at the pool cheering on our oldest, Alexia, at her league swim championships. And yesterday, we pulled all of our kids out early from school to go across the bridge to cheer on Naiya at her indoor track Regionals meet. It’s a whirlwind, but I wouldn’t want it any other way!
Today, I’m sharing week five of MEMORY LANE MOMENT!

In case you missed, you can catch up on the first four weeks…
Each week, I am taking photos and content from past various blogs I’ve created over the years (dating all the way back to 2006), and re-posting them here to create a consolidated storyline of life as a young wife and mom. So expect 52 throwback posts in 2025! I love the thought of being able to go to one blog space to be reminded of our family story.
Grab a coffee and blanket and settle in. We’re picking up where we left off…
One month before Baby #1 was due, we’re talking April 2008, Ryan took on a new house project. He rented a skid steer and tackled our backyard. It went from this…

…to this…

…to this…

…and finally, to this…

Nothing is more satisfying than laying sod. Instant gratification!
Meanwhile, I was scurrying around inside putting the final touches on our nursery.

I absolutely loved our nursery decor and bedding from Dwell. Since we weren’t finding out the gender of our baby, I kept it neutral with brown, khaki and aqua. The sweet matching hooded bath towels were my favorite. Ryan made the wall hooks and I crafted the picture frames with ribbon. (Ryan is still in the business of creating wall hooks for me, as he just put up some in our mudroom last week)!

The biggest gift I received at my baby shower was this swivel rocking chair, that served us well past all four of our babies’ births.

Most of my decor (outside of bedding) came from Ikea.

My changing table outfitted with matching baskets and nursing pillow.

I had Ryan take off the bi-fold doors from one of the closets and turned it into a bookshelf of sorts for easy access.

Isn’t the bedding the cutest?

There was a second closet in this bedroom, which I hung up washed onesies and sleepers, our clip ‘n go stroller, and apparently we also stored Ryan’s work shirts as well. Look at that teeny, tiny life jacket in there!
Being eight months pregnant and in no condition to fly, physically or legally…I had to sadly miss out on an awards work trip to the Bahamas that Ryan earned that year.

My replacement was his BFF, Jared.

Decidedly, a much better choice, considering my almost 9 month pregnant self would have prevented us from doing most of what was on the itinerary. Even on a good non-pregnant day, I would not have joined him golfing. Needless to say, they enjoyed their Bro-cation.
About a week later, I stuffed myself into a fancy maternity cocktail dress and joined our extended Grossman family at a family friend’s wedding (Adam and Lauren Mueller). Fun fact: their family just moved to the eastern shore this last year and now have kids at the same school as us!

Now we were just playing the waiting game for our baby to come! I was so swollen and ready to meet our precious one! And honestly, I couldn’t wait to not be pregnant anymore, it was a hard run.

That’s it for MEMORY LANE MOMENT WEEK 5! It’s been so nostalgic to go through these old blog posts and photos and re-post here on Fun for Life Mama!
I’m off catch up on some more laundry! Hope you have a great day! xoxo
