Happy Friday!
One week from today is our last day of school!
We are heading into the weekend with a pretty light schedule, as all sports are cancelled for the holiday weekend. We have plans to have friends come for a sleepover and then cookout on Memorial Day. While thunderstorms are on the forecast for today, this weekend should be sunny and warm!
Today, I’m sharing my recent favorite things. Enjoy!
Since summer is right around the corner, I’ve started stocking up on sunscreen. Last year I tried this brand of sunscreen and am sold!
It’s made with clean ingredients, so no breakouts. I use the Unseen Sunscreen every morning (my tube is almost out and obviously well-used, hence, you can hardly read the brand name anymore!). What I love about this sunscreen is it is invisible, doesn’t feel heavy, is scentless, and has the most amazing texture (velvet-like). What sold me was that it is the first sunscreen I have found that doesn’t sweat into my eyes and sting. I can’t count how many times I would be timing at a swim meet and constantly be wiping my eyes to get the stinging sunscreen out! The glow stick sunscreen is perfect for on-the-go and quick application. It has a subtle “glow” once applied, giving a dewy appearance.
I picked up a couple new pieces from Athleta to add to my summer workout wardrobe. I love the cropped length of this top, but it’s not too cropped to be showing everybody what they don’t want or need to see. Know what I’m sayin’? It’s not a true muscle tank, so it doesn’t gape too much at the armpit. It’s the perfect amount of coverage all the way around! I’m wearing the color “dress blue/cottage blue”, but it comes in so many colors.
My shorts are the Mesh Racer Run 4″ short in “coral petal”, and I’m settled on the 4″ length as it’s not too short and not too long. I really only wear Athleta running shorts and leggings at this point. I’ve tried other brands, expensive and affordable alike, but I always come back to the fit of Athleta. Plus, they have petite sizes. I appreciate that they don’t cut into my midline (giving the dreaded muffin-top) and their fabrics are soft, not scratchy, they hold up well in the washer and dryer, and last for years and years. (For sizing reference, I wear a Small in both tank and shorts).
I also love this sports bra, which comes in so many other colors!
To round out my workout go-to’s, these socks are the only socks I run in. They are thick, so my feet don’t slide around in my shoes. They are no-show and cushioned, moisture-wicking, have a reinforced toe and heel for durability, and my favorite feature is the high heel tab that prevents the sock from slipping down, avoiding blisters on the back of my ankle. I love, love, love these!
While we’re on the subject of no-show socks, I thought I’d share my favorite socks that I wear with everyday sneakers (I’ll wear these also for strength training, but not running)…
My socks shown are no longer in stock, but here is a similar version.
My favorite running shoe are these Brooks Ghost 14 shoes. They feel like I am running on clouds. I had worn Adidas Boost running shoes for years and years, until they stopped making them. So I gave these Brooks a try and I haven’t looked back! I liked them so much, I recently bought Alexia a pair as she has been complaining about heel and ankle pain. It is her first pair of “real” running shoes (and is a size bigger than me)! These shoes have so much cushion (but aren’t heavy or clunky), and provide a lot of support (I have high arches, so this is a must). Plus, Brooks offers a wide width option, which I need (I wear a size 5.5 W).
You can find me wearing these cozy house slippers pretty much any time I’m home in the spring and summer. They have great arch support, an adjustable velcro closure, EVA footbed, and cozy shearling upper. They have a wider foot bed, which is a plus for me! Mine are in “taupe shearling”, but they also come in black. (For size reference, I wear size 6).
These jean shorts are on repeat over here, now that the weather is warming up a bit. I’m wearing “medium wash”. They also come in a black wash that looks super cute! I continue to be impressed with Target’s in-house brand, Universal Thread, and these shorts do not disappoint! They are the perfect high-rise (not too high), have just the right amount of stretch to make them comfy but are not stretched out by the end of the day. And the price point can’t be beat at less than $13! You can read all about my love for my white tee here. (For size reference, I’m wearing a size 6).
That’s a wrap for Friday Favorites!
As you head into Memorial Day weekend, be sure to check out my Maryland Crab Dip recipe, it’s the perfect hot dip appetizer that will be gone in seconds flat!
I hope you have a sunny, happy holiday weekend! xoxo
