Happy Friday!
Today I’m sharing some of my fall faves!
I should mention that I’m pretty disciplined to not skip over November, Thanksgiving and the last month of all fall goodness and trade it all in for Christmas. Especially because we usually host Thanksgiving at our house, it just seems wrong to have our Christmas tree up while we’re eating pumpkin pie and turkey with family. So you will see me continuing to post fall faves, Thanksgiving preparations, and lingering in orange and taupe for the month of November. #callmetraditional
My first favorite is sadly coming to an end…
…soccer playoffs.
As of Tuesday, our kids’ 2022 playoffs are over. Playoff season is always exciting with games under the lights, overtimes, penalty kicks, and all the suspenseful dynamics that come into play. Parents on the sidelines are rowdy, kids are hustling, and refs are being challenged left and right.
This year, Noah’s team made it the furthest out of our kids, losing the game that would have enabled them to head to the Semi-Finals. We were so proud of Noah breaking the half-time 0-2 score with a breakaway that he put into the back of the net! Another score came from a teammate and tied us up. Sadly, we lost with the other team putting one away before the whistle blew in regulation. Boo.
Lots and lots of tears of disappointment. It was a good run though.
We are now one practice and one game away from officially being done with fall soccer, as Naiya’s travel team finishes up this Saturday. I know I’ll be sad but grateful not to do the evening hustle.
This week both Naiya and Josiah had big recitations (memorization and class oral presentations) on Wednesday.
Josiah’s class recited songs and poems about Mesopotamia, while Naiya’s class presented from Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven”. Ryan and I are always amazed by what these kids can memorize, recite in front of 100+ people, with clarity and precision!
I have been super impressed with the quality of sweaters on Amazon! I always love a good puff sleeve, and this perfect fall sweater checks all the boxes for cozy, cute and comfy. I have it in the color “caramel”, but it is definitely a burnt orange (versus brown).
It comes in other fall colors, as well as neutrals. (For size reference, I’m wearing an XS).
When I’m not wearing this as my fall uniform, you can find me in…
…this cozy short sleeve sweater. The fit of both of these puff sleeve sweaters is what you would find in more expensive brands. Both are super soft, which makes it so easy to just throw them on! #idontdofussy
The short sleeve puff sweater comes in 15 colors. (For size reference, I’m wearing a M).
This early morning routine has become an unexpected favorite. Each morning, Hazel and I take a quick walk to…
…feed our horses.
Since moving our horses to our property, I have taken on this responsibility. #neverthoughtidseetheday
Both Selah and Lady take a scoop of grain specific to their needs, on top of the massive amounts of grass they eat all day long. Most days it is calming and refreshing to do this daily task, but some days Alexia’s food-aggressive horse scares me. I just have images of being pinned or trampled. So I quickly escape out of the gate and wait until she calms down and my heart rate goes down. But I love this experience my kids are able to have to grow up with animals on our farm.
Naiya is our resident early bird, along with me.
Her and I often share space in the morning having our quiet times next to one another. She sets her alarm every morning for 6am, so she can make herself a cup of chai tea and have her quiet time, spend time with Hazel, and ease into her morning.
Recently, I picked up this devotional for her. We love all of the versions of Jesus Calling devotionals! I’m really looking forward to the Christmas version, come December.
These are the cutest festive Fall/Thanksgiving cookie cutters! I love them so much! They are perfect for baking, cooking, drawing, and playdough sessions.
They paired perfectly when making my…
…Chicken Pot Pie! The kids were so excited to see this seasonal twist on one of our all-time favorite comfort meals! Who doesn’t love a fun pastry leaf on top?!
We’re heading into our last weekend of fall soccer, plus a riding event of Alexia’s, and some other fun, fall parties. We get to do all of this with two of my nieces in tow, too! It should be a fun-filled weekend.
It feels good to be back in blog world, back to documenting what we’re up to, and highlighting the bright spots of our week. I always enjoy having this space as an outlet, and of course ease my mama guilt of never scrapbooking or printing pictures! #kidsthisisyourscrapbook
See you back here on Monday! xoxo
