On Day 6, our last full day in Idaho, Ryan and the kids spent most of the day hiking to rocks to jump off and swimming in the lake. I, on the other hand, stayed in my pajamas and pretty much read the whole day, recuperating from the long weekend of festivities. It was luxurious. And needed.
We ate leftovers for both lunch and dinner, then post-dinner we played a few rounds of corn hole in the front yard. The girls painted their nails and made friendship bracelets.
After declaring that Josiah and I were the corn hole champs, we all headed out to the store and picked up some ice cream and cake cones to enjoy on our porch. We even let the kids have two cones each.
It was the perfect way to spend the last night of our trip in Idaho…
…and enjoy the sunset one last time…
The next morning, our final day, Ryan and I snuck out of the house before the kids were up and had a little coffee date downtown at…
Vault Coffee had such great reviews, and I had wanted to visit this coffeehouse before we left. It was my favorite, by far!
We just grabbed coffee for ourselves, sat for a bit in this cozy section…
…and then headed back home to grab our kiddos and return for breakfast at The Vault. It was just too cute not to share in the experience with our kids!
Apparently, we missed out on the “coffee flight” option (as pictured), but we had already stuffed our faces and guzzled enough coffee by the time I saw this. Oh well, next time.
Back at home, the boys went back at it with corn hole. They played best two out of three, and there was lots of competition, cheering, arguing, “do-overs”, bitter tears from the losing team, followed by a lecture about how to lose well. 😆
Enjoying one last porch snuggle, before my family convinces me to join their morning routine of hiking and rock jumping. I said I’d hike and photograph. Naiya and Noah paddle boarded to the rocks in lieu of hiking…
They were hesitant to go without their older sister, but they made it!
Last jumps of the trip…
This girls is too much…
If you’re wondering, yes, the water was cold. Every morning. Refreshing once you were in, but definitely cold.
Josiah was an animal this trip when it came to rock jumping. No life jacket, just plunged right in after his older brother and sisters. The kids would often be waiting their turn to jump throughout the week, hesitant teenagers would be taking time to psyche themselves up to jump, then my kids would get antsy and just go ahead and jump first. Once Josiah jumped in, his little body barely creating any splash, the teens were shamed into doing it too. 🤣 My big kids caught the tail end of a group of teenagers having a conversation with themselves one time where Josiah jumped first, saying, “that little guy is awesome! Who are his parents?!”. Ha! Um, his dad is the one doing back flips off the rock and his mom is the one biting her nails, holding her breath and videoing.
After all the jumping, we hiked home and Alexia paddle boarded back to the beach by herself. This girl loves taking time to herself and having some peace and quiet away from her siblings.
We got back home, showered and bathed…
…and then started packing. We had an hour drive to the Spokane airport, had to return our car, then hop on our flight home. We wouldn’t arrive back to Baltimore until midnight, putting us at home around 1:30am.
It was a meaningful trip, and I’m so grateful to have these memories!
Goodbye, Idaho!
